Today was work – two very different clients, but they each have their own issues. I delivered a Christmas hamper to one, which was a nice feeling. He and his family were genuinely appreciative. I’ve heard this time of year referred to as Suicide Season which is obviously more of a concern for my clients. To say that I’m kept awake at night worrying about them is probably not far from the truth.

Very hot today. Spent some time showing a client his new house. It’s not in a great area, but it’s better than the men’s shelter.

Supposed to be hotter tomorrow.

When I got home at 6pm tonight I walked up to the shops with Willow and Dexter to get some bacon and icecreams (not for the same dish!) Willow fell over in the shops and tried to do the brave thing but cried, which nearly made me cry. Kind shop owner gave her and Dexie some lollies. Dex refused to hold my hand while we walked home (down the steep hill) so I made him hold his sister’s hand. Very cute.

I cooked while Dexie ate his chocolate icecream and got it all over the couch and Willow’s new book. Fed kids and A who had a man-headache and was lying in bed watching tv shows on his laptop. Bathed kids, read them a story and tried to get them to go to sleep. Tided up their bedroom, hung out 2 loads of washing. Piss poor effort of cleaning kitchen – which just means there is more to do tomorrow. Was largely unsuccessful at getting children to sleep, so handed them over to A. The house looks like a bomb has hit it. It’s too bloody hot to do anything.

Tell you what, I’m glad I’ve got tomorrow off.

Did I mention that it’s hot? Supposed to be 43c tomorrow.

Gosh I really need to do something about my mummy tummy. What though?

Today was a fantastic conference. Left early for an appointment, grabbed A and Willow to do a bit of shopping. Dexie is lacking in summer clothes so we picked up some shorts and t-shirts for him at K-Mart. With Willow being in school uniform, her clothes are barely worn these days.

After A cooked dinner we went out to Office Works to buy some ink for the printer cartridges – I had to get some pens and pretty post-it notes. I’m sure they will help me with my exam revision! Afterwards we drove around for a bit in the cool air-conditioning of the car. Terrible for the economy, but the house was sooo stuffy and hot.

It is excruciatingly hot here. Not only is it hot, but it has been hot and it will continue to be hot. Last heatwave we went for a swim in a friend’s pool and I remember feeling like my extremities had been cooled down, but my core was still over-heated.

Today involved a big meeting, leaving said meeting to go to uni to do our presentation, then returning to work. I think we did ok with the presentation – I’m not up on murder charges for killing the other group members, so there is a measure of success!

We are camped out in the lounge room tonight, it is the coolest room as it has the airconditioner. Last night I slept in the bedroom and A and the children slept here, but I think it is too hot down there now.

Work, in and out of the airconditioned car and office, then shopping with the family and uni to rehearse our presentation.

It has been interesting, taking a photo of myself every day. Quite confronting really. Might write more about that later.

Work, in this bloody heat. Attended to two clients in crisis.

Currently wearing nightie that my mother hand smocked. It is quite simple, two rectangles of cotton voile, the top edge of one is smocked. She used satin binding to trim the edges and make shoulder ties. It’s not elegant and it wouldn’t win any design awards. She sewed the whole thing by hand. Tiny stitches along the neck binding, larger running stitches down the side seams. Knowing her she’d got impatient by then. In fact, she had a habit of starting things and not finishing them, so I should count myself lucky to have it at all.

Doing stuff around the house. Had vague plans to go into uni, but they didn’t eventuate. It was very hot here today. We spent most of the day inside, in the air conditioning. I was silly enough to promise to make chocolate cupcakes with Willow, so we did it quickly and went back to the cool dark lounge room while they cooked.

Beach. Was previously slothing around in green Esprit t-shirt (new) and Sussan pj shorts (new).
