Hi Ho Hi Ho

It’s back to work we go. On Monday, my first day back it was ridiculously hot. Thankfully the air conditioning worked as I heard that the AC in a friend’s building broke down. On second thoughts, she got to go home…

On Monday night the cool change came through, so things were a bit more bearable. Still, some things like roads and brick buldings and I retain heat so it was a bit uncomfortable. Plus no-one sleeps well in the heat, least of all me, so I was a bit grumpy. I organised myself, after having been away for 3 weeks there was a lot to catch up on.

Tuesday saw me catching up with some of my clients and hearing how their Christmas and New Year had gone. Some had sad Christmases and some had more bearable times.

This morning I had an early appointment with the dentist. She is a lovely, gentle dentist – I wouldn’t go to anyone else. I’d made the appointment last year, so I forgot about what we’d decided to do. She reminded me that she was going to extract the root of my top right hand wisdom tooth, which I’d completely forgotten about. When I was pregnant with Willow it was bothering me and I’d had the crown of it removed while in the chair with no anaesthetic.

For some reason I was under the impression that there was just a sliver of a root left that was irritating my gum. The dentist did an x-ray which showed that the whole root was still in there. Eventually she pulled it out and I threw down a handy Panadeine 15. Only one though, any more than that and I fall asleep.

I headed off to see a client with a gauze pack in my mouth – not the classiest way to conduct a home visit, but she was very sympathetic. In the afternoon I saw another client and my gum had stopped bleeding by then. By the time I got back to the office, everyone (except our manager) was there. The team I am part of is a small one, with 6 workers and our manager. We do outreach work and some of us are part time, so it’s not very often that we all get together spontaneously. I really like the team as it is now – each individual person brings so much to it.
