Fast friends
The family friends of mine who we recently visited in Melbourne were flying to Roxby Downs to visit their daughter. They had a stop over in Adelaide from 11am to 4pm, so I picked them up for lunch. This required a bit of organisation – with our two boofa car seats in the back there is very little room for even the tiniest person to sit. I ended up borrowing a car seat from a lovely friend and A installed it in the middle so there was a little bit more room.
Much gossip was shared about people we distantly remembered.
It was incredibly good to catch up with them. Seeing them is about the next best thing to seeing Mum and Dad. Willow took a shine to D, wanting to walk with him and hold his hand. It’s funny seeing her assert herself as a very independent girl. On a couple of occasions she made it very clear that she did not want to go with N, Dexie and I, she wanted to go with him. Willow really yearns to have people like this in her life. I guess that a few hours is better than nothing.
She later declared to A that D is the coolest man in the whole world and she misses him so much already.
We went to Harbourtown which is a factory outlet near the airport. I was thinking about taking them to the beach, but it was way too hot. At least there are sections of Harbourtown that are shaded and the shops are air conditioned. D bought the kids a present each, Dexie got an Easter Thomas and Willow got a Dora playground. I bought myself a cookie cutter in the shape of a teddy bear and a Barkins top.
Similar to, but not the same as this:

I dropped them back at the airport – I’m not sure how long their stop over is on the way back, but hopefully we can see them again then.
