Ahoy me maties!
Yesterday I took Willow to see The Princess and the Frog. I’ve been wanting to take her to see a movie at the cinemas for a while now, but couldn’t find the right one. She has been to the movies before with Vacation Care, but apparently she lasts a little while then wants to leave because she is scared.
She sat through this movie, with some encouragement. The animation looked authentic and according to IMDB, the first hand-drawn film since 2004. The concept that hard work, not marrying a prince will get you what you want, is one that I quite like. Cletus was my favourite character – “I chipped ma fav-rit tooth!”
After this I zipped home to get A and Dexie. The Maritime Museum is holding a pirate show during the school holidays which I thought would be suitable for both the children. It held Dexie’s attention for about 2 minutes, then I took him to look at the rest of the exhibitions.
It is very child friendly, I highly recommend it apart from the stairs, but there is a lift. Willow watched the show for about 30 minutes, then she and A joined us looking at the exhibition.
We had a drink after at the child friendly cafe across the road. I wish we’d gone there for lunch, but we settled for a shopping mall cafe meal.
Willow and Dexie desperately needed a hair cut. It would be the second one for both of them. So we drove in the direction of home, to our nearest big shopping mall. The last time they had their hair cut was about a year ago, so I probably shouldn’t have been so surprised to find that the hairdresser we took them to had disappeared. They had a little red car for a seat that Willow loved last time. So we trudged over to the next hairdressers that I knew of, they said that they would do children’s hair cuts and by all accounts I think they did a decent job considering the children were over tired and fidgety.
We needed stuff for dinner, so headed for Coles. The first thing I saw when we got there were Hot Cross Buns and Cadbury Creme Eggs. I bought two of the eggs for A and I, as well as a packet of Hot Cross Buns. I’m sure it’s sacrilegious to eat them in January, but I don’t care, I adore them.
