Christmas Day 2009

Posted December 28th, 2009 by candi

I got a gorgeous Spencer and Rutherford purse, a set of Matroyshka Doll measuring cups, a notebook and diary set plus a cupcake carrier.

A got his Navman, which he’d already unwrapped, a game like pictionary but you have to use playdough, some Darell Lea chocolates and Jelly Belly jelly beans plus some pencils shaped like drumsticks.

Willow loved her Sylvanian Families presents and the watch and lip gloss from Father Christmas was a big hit.

Dexie was very excited about his train set and got a bit silly. At one stage while we were setting it up he squatted down as if he were about to jump off something, put his arms back like Superman and shouted “Digger day!”. Perhaps you had to be there to appreciate how funny he looked. We have been telling each other “Digger day!” which cracks us up. Dexie refers to himself as Digger, so perhaps he was saying that it made his day?

We had a delicious breakfast of ham and cheese croissants. The children played with their toys and I unpacked my old purse, cleaning it out and putting all the essentials in my new purse. My old purse was Mum’s, a black Annapelle leather one. I’ve been using it since she died, so for seven years now. I think it was time for a new one.

Lunch was a smoked turkey breast, roast carrot and sweet potato, smashed potato, peas and cranberry sauce. Dessert was the traditional pudding and brandy custard. At this stage there isn’t much point doing a big meal since there are just the two adults and two children who don’t eat very much.

Dinner was at A’s mums house. It was nice to catch up with his family and I always think we should do it more often. It was a smaller gathering than usual thought. Prawns were on the menu, along with lots of other yummy food.

It takes about an hour and a bit to drive down there – Dexie was overexcited and only fell asleep about 10 minutes before we got there. This was the only sleep he’d had all day, so he was ratty and grumpy at A’s mum’s house. As we left he brightened up and turned on the charm, blowing kisses to his Nan.
