A trip to the beach

Posted December 28th, 2009 by candi

Yesterday the children were suffering a bit of cabin fever – since I haven’t been well, we haven’t been doing much. Dexie was heading towards needing a nap, so I herded him into the shower and then got him ready while A and Willow had a shower. Once we got in the car he was soon asleep.

I figured that we could do with a trip to the beach, so I headed west and then started driving down the coast. As much as I could I stuck to esplanades to see the sea. Willow was very excited about the sea, so it was almost torture for her to look out the window and keep seeing a patch of blue. After about an hour Dexie woke up so we stopped and had lunch at a cafe along Brighton Jetty Road. I had the most delicious seafood duo – salt and pepper calamari with a prawn skewer and a honey balsamic sauce.

Afterwards we headed down to the beach for a quick wade in the shallows. This particular beach has lots of rocks and shells so it was a bit rough on our feet. Dexie enjoyed throwing handfuls of sand in the water. Unfortunatly this meant that he got most of it down his back, so he needed a rinse off afterwards.

None of us are really beach people, but an occasional trip sates my desire and leaves me feeling refreshed and invigorated.
