Christmas Eve 2009
A made a simple dinner of smoked chicken breast and smashed potato, then the children were allowed to open one present – the traditional pyjamas. At this point my digital camera finally gave up the ghost, so these photos are the last ones I took. After that, we went to see the Lobethal Lights.
A had already opened one of his presents – a GPS, the Navman MY30. I’m not a big fan of them, I have a pretty good sense of direction and I enjoy planning how to get places. He set the destination and it directed us on a route through the hills instead of up the freeway. I liked going this way, but A didn’t – he hates windy roads. By the time we got to Lobethal, Willow had fallen asleep and despite a late nap, Dexie was ratty.
The lights were beautiful, but I think the children will appreciate them more next year. We stopped at a late night market for a look and bought fudge. One of the stalls had some gorgeous dolls house miniatures. We drove home via the free way and put the children to bed quickly. I set out a glass of milk, some mint sticks Willow had chosen for Santa earlier and some chewed on carrots.
