A Chinese dinner.

It’s now probably politically incorrect to refer to anything back-to-front as Chinese nowadays. My mum sometimes used to serve what she called a Chinese dinner. It was probably more a result of her being disorganised than anything else - it was just that she served dessert first, then the main meal second. […]

Assorted photos.

Our camera has been temperamental - the battery cover is broken, which means that taking a photo often involves curses like “What the hell, I just put these batteries in!” and “Willow, Dexie sit still, I need to take a photo!” as the camera turns itself off.
I took these photos recently, but then I […]

A trip to the beach

Yesterday the children were suffering a bit of cabin fever - since I haven’t been well, we haven’t been doing much. Dexie was heading towards needing a nap, so I herded him into the shower and then got him ready while A and Willow had a shower. Once we got in the car […]

Christmas Day 2009

I got a gorgeous Spencer and Rutherford purse, a set of Matroyshka Doll measuring cups, a notebook and diary set plus a cupcake carrier.

A got his Navman, which he’d already unwrapped, a game like pictionary but you have to use playdough, some Darell Lea chocolates and Jelly Belly jelly beans plus some pencils […]

Christmas Eve 2009

A made a simple dinner of smoked chicken breast and smashed potato, then the children were allowed to open one present - the traditional pyjamas. At this point my digital camera finally gave up the ghost, so these photos are the last ones I took. After that, we went to see the Lobethal […]

A Traditional Christmas

In keeping with tradition, my body has let me down at Christmas time. Last year it was my back. This year, I’m not entirely sure, but I’m beginning to suspect Whooping Cough/Pertussis. I’ve had a chest x-ray that has come back as normal, which indicates that it is not pneumonia. I […]

More worshipping at the altar of consumerism

Usually I make an effort not to buy (pun intended!) into the whole consumerism thing. Really.
So, how did I find myself doing a mad dash into the city (think terrible traffic) for a Christmas present for Willow this afternoon? I left work early, partly because I was feeling ill and partly […]

The deal with disability.

One of my lovely friends passed this blog on to me - the deal with disability. It got a wry grin out of me, as well as a few laughs.

Worshipping at the altar of consumerism

Last minute confirmation of our Christmas plans saw us head out to do some Christmas shopping today. I won’t go into detail in case some of the recipients are reading, but suffice it to say, my misanthropy is only increasing. We went to IKEA and Harbourtown, a factory outlet mall near the airport.

Giveaways?

I entered this giveaway - along with 350 other people so far. Not sure what my chances are! I chose the green ones in the top row if anyone wants to take pity on me.
In the new year, I may do some kind of give away, possibly of earrings. They are so […]
