Mums and Bubs!

Posted November 19th, 2009 by candi

So, today was the fisrst day I’d had to myself for a long time. On Thursdays I usually go to uni, but that has finished for the year. In the morning I raced around doing the housework that it’s been too hot to do and cooked some taco mince for tonight. I dropped Dexie off to FDC at about 10.20am and made it to the cinemas in time for the 10.45am session.

I’d wanted to see The Time Traveller’s Wife since I’d hear the book, one of my favourites, was being made into a movie. The young man behind the counter said to me in a quiet tone ‘you know this is a mums and bubs session, don’t you?’ The women milling around the ticket counter had given me that idea, but I wasn’t too fussed. Shrugging, I told him that I had just dropped my baby off, but I didn’t mind. He laughed at this.

The movie was good. Possibly about as good as any movie could be, from a book. A is currently reading my copy of the book, but now I want to re-read it. I actually cried about as much as some of the babies in the theatre!

I really liked how the different ages of the two main characters were signified by their hair styles.

Afterwards I wandered around the shops, looking at presents for the Kris Kringles I have to buy. Went to A’s school to pick up Willow and took her to some other nearby shops for a strawberry milkshake and a bit of a wander through the shops. This is a bit of a habit I’ve developed and looking at the other parents in the shop, those with older children, I hope it’s one we keep up.
