Happy Birthday to me!

Posted May 31st, 2009 by candi

My birthday celebrations started off with high tea last weekend with friends. We went to the Boho Bar, a place I’d wanted to go for ages. I wasn’t disappointed. We had a great time in a unique venue – it is an intriguing place. The food was gorgeous and we shared a bottle of Moet & Chandon.

One of my lovely friends gave me a beautiful soy wax candle from Adam Alexander, it smells of beautiful spices.

On Thursday I started late, so I was at home when my physio rang. I hadn’t been to Strong Core/pilates classes in awhile and she wondered how I was going. I promised to go that Saturday, without telling her it was my birthday. So on Saturday, I knocked back the sleep-in that A offered and drove off to pilates. I’d forgotten how much I enjoyed it and vowed to make more of an effort to go. A strange co-incidence is that someone else in the class was celebrating her birthday that day, we were born in the same year too!

Before I left for class, Willow proudly gave me this lovely package from Lush.

That afternoon Willow had a birthday party at a nearby playcafe, it was for one of her school mates. So I had a nice afternoon chatting with school parents. One of them is an advisor to an MP, whose portfolio includes issues which affect my job, so he was interesting to talk to.

A had organised for a friend to look after the children so we could have a night out together. I am usually the one to organise things, so this was a present as much as anything else. We went to the Scenic Hotel which was just beautiful.

This morning I got my sleep in, until 10:30am! Today we had another gathering to go to, Willow had a chance to catch up with some of her friends and I had a chance to talk to their mummies. If Dexie hadn’t wanted to run off, climb up playground equipment and fall off, I would have been able to have a decent conversation with them! There was a jumping castle, face painter and balloon artist there, so the children had a ball.

Unbeknownst to me, my friends had organised a massive gourmet food hamper plus a bunch of roses and a book shop voucher, which I was given as we were going home. I was totally blown away by the sheer generosity of it all. I really am blessed to have such kind friends.
