My day in links…
Today was a work training day, held at the Adelaide Bowling Club. I suppose it wasn’t so much about training, but it was a brainstorming session on funding outcomes. It was great as it helped our fledgling team solidify and clarify what we want our outcomes to be in the next 12-18 months. It was also good to catch up with some other colleagues, especially those who have become friends.
Lunch was a barbeque which was nice enough. I’d been there for an Xmas function a couple of years ago and found the same thing. A bit disappointing for Xmas, but ok for an every day event.
After the hard work, we had a chance to bowl. I’ve never bowled in my life, but I got the hang of it pretty quickly and our team won in the end. I was invited to join a different team, with people I know to say hi to, but don’t usually have in depth discussions with. Despite this, we were cracking up laughing, high fiving and having a great time. Which, I guess, is mostly what the day was about – building team spirit.
Since the day finished early, I thought I’d duck into the city to buy a present for A’s birthday. Presumably he won’t be reading this between now and Saturday! First I went to LUSH and bought him a bottle of the Sonic Death Monkey body wash. He is very hard to buy for, so I hope he likes it.
Then I walked back down past where I parked my car on Rundle St. I didn’t realise Gripp Jeans had a shop there. I happened to stop in at Mary Martin Bookshop, which is owned by parents of one of the children in Willow’s class. We had a nice chat about upcoming birthday parties – Willow has three to attend, including their son’s. I bought a book called ‘How Language Works‘ – should be good.
I stopped at the M!MCO shop, but resisted buying anything – though now I’ve seen their online sale, I could be tempted. To get me through, I needed caffeine, so I got a flat white from CIBO. I then found an amazing stationery shop, but I can’t find a link to it anywhere. It was full of amazing note pads, leather bound hand made journals, sets to make wax seals, little Japanese boxes.
Then I trudged back to the car, paid a ridiculous amount for parking and drove to pick Dexie up.
