Sick.
No, not with the swine flu, just an ordinary cold. I’m cuddled up in bed, with a cat next to me, Willow on the pillow over, the heater on and the rain coming down outside. A is up in the lounge room, coughing his lungs up.
This week I have done four days of training and much uni stuff, so it has gone quickly.
The first lot of training I did was the beginning of the Certificate IV in Mental Health. It focussed mostly on the Recovery Model. I found it quite interesting and it affirmed the way that I currently work with clients. The training as a whole consolidated my knowledge about Mental Health. The presenter was two weeks away from her due day, she did a great job with only a few pregnant pauses. Adelaide being the small town that it is, I knew two of the other participants from previous jobs.
The training that we finished today was on the concept of Motivational Interviewing. It is probably best described as a counselling technique – we thought of it as a tool to have in our toolkit. I particularly liked that it is not a confrontational style. The presenter of this training was an American who had lived in New Zealand for seven years, so his accent was interesting to say the least!
Importantly, the food was good for all four days. Catering = not having to think about what to have for lunch! It was also nice to spend some time in the city for both training sessions. Tonight after training I walked to the Central Market and bought ham, cheddar and croissants. They were meant to be for breakfast but they ended up being dinner tonight. I also bought a decadent rocky road muffin and a baklava slice for tonight, but I’m not hungry.
So, my brain is a bit full. Quite apart from the major uni assessment that I handed up on Tuesday.
Plans for this weekend include a Tupperware party tomorrow and hopefully catching up with a friend and her daughter on Sunday. I would also like to make this flourless orange cake with Willow, if we have the time.
Rani is much better now. She is unimpressed at being kept inside all the time, so urinating on things like A’s couch and the dog’s basket. Not happy. We were even less happy when the washing machine broke. It is fixed now, thankfully. So this weekend will also include a lot of washing.
