My current obsession.

Pioneer Woman. her cooking is certainly not for the health conscious or vegetarians or the faint hearted!

We are in the middle of cooking her Favorite Christmas Cookies. Of course, I can’t just follow the recipe as it is given, I used up the last of the vanilla yesterday when I made cupcakes. So I used lemon essence instead, which made the cookies taste a bit like Froot Loops. We don’t have shortening, so I used butter. The mixture is currently in the fridge, waiting to be rolled and cut.

Yet another thing we don’t have is icing sugar, so I put some plain sugar in the rocket blender and pulsed until it turned into a fine powdery sugar.

We baked them, but I forgot to do the egg yolk wash. Just waiting for them to cool so we can ice them.

Willow has been super cute recently. Her favourite thing to say at the moment is “That’s right!” like some hopped up game show host. Dexter, on the other hand, has discovered the power of the whack. This has resulted in more than a few time outs so far.

This morning we did a little egg hunt in the front yard for Willow and Dexter. Bear the dog helped Willow find an egg, so according to her, “he can come to my birthday party!”.

Willow with an egg.

Dexie using his egg as a shovel!

The stash! That’s not my hand, by the way!

Then it was time for the chocolate bilbies from Mummy and Daddy.

We then dyed the eggs. I have to admit that I wasn’t impressed with how they turned out, the dye seemed to come off by rubbing it with a paper towel.

Oh and because it is on my computer now, a photo of the chocolate fondue from the other day.

This post is for my lovely friend Sarah who is on semi bedrest.

Totally OT, but I LOVE that skirt Willow’s wearing. Beautiful. :)

Thanks Melissa :) It is actually a dress that I made her by taking a length of fabric, gathering it, sewing up the side and sewing it to a size 2 bonds singlet. I hemmed it and added some lace before sewing up the side.

    I found this yesterday
    http://www.ourbestbites.com/2008/03/silk-dyed-eggs.html

I would have loved to do it with my kids but have just run out of silk ties…lol
The fact that S and T are way to old has nothing to do with it

Seriously? Wow, Candi. I can thread a needle, but that’s as far as I go. I’d like to learn, and when I see something like this, I want it even more.
