Good way to spend the afternoon…
As it was my last day with my current work mates, and the last day for some of them too, we had lunch and drinks on the company tab at the Governor Hindmarsh. The Gov is a fantastic venue, A and I were there a couple of weekends ago to see the live comedy gig.
This morning I said good bye to a client I had grown quite fond of. I’d spent a lot of time working with her and I hope that she has a bright and positive future.
For lunch I had the Porterhouse steak with a mushroom sauce and fried field mushrooms and garlic mash. For dessert I had sticky date pudding which was delicious. To drink I had one glass of sweet riesling which was a bit much on an empty stomach, but I pulled up alright after eating and drinking mineral water.
Moving on from this job felt a bit surreal, since I am going to be working for the same organisation, just under a different program. My current manager is actually coming with me, so it’s far less of a transition in some ways than it is for the people left behind, let alone those who were officially made redundant and not offered further employment. Sort of a Clayton’s leaving, the leaving you have when you are not really leaving.
Walking back to work with a lovely colleague (who has transitioned into friend status) and one of the other managers, we had a chat about doggies, babies and future plans. The manager made the comment that the organisation is lucky to be keeping me, which was nice to hear.
I was able to leave work early and picked up Dexie, came home to A who was home sick. Willow was dropped off, then it was the dinner, bath and bed routine which was going fine until Willow started vomiting everywhere. Worse still she was in our bed with me. I’d planned to fall asleep early, so thought we could snooze together til A came to bed. A and I swung into action, I showered Willow and dressed her while he stripped the bed. He made up her fold out couch with towels while I remade our bed. We sat up together while she vomited again and again, he rinsed out the bowls while I encouraged her to rinse her mouth out and wiped her chin.
I am a bit worried about her being dehydrated as she has vomited quite a lot, but is refusing to drink more than a couple of sips of Gastrolite. A has gone to bed now, he will probably take tomorrow off as well since he still isn’t 100% well. Hopefully I will be able to go to my first day of my new job, but it would be better if Willow was better.

Oh poor Willow! Hope she’s better today Candi. At least your new job has the old boss, so they’ll be more understanding!!

I got home and she was a lot better, a 24 hour bug, I’m guessing.
Good (but sad) news about your doggie, she’s a gorgeous girl
