Hungover and sunburnt

Posted March 25th, 2009 by admin

Starting the week off with sunburn and a hangover (no matter how minor) is not a good plan. Of course, I didn’t plan on either. My weekend ended up being different to what I had planned.

On Saturday I was going to catch up with an old friend and meet her 5 year old for the first time. I had envisaged a relaxing chat at a local playground, but she cancelled due to illness. Instead, I caught up on housework.

A and I had planned to catch the Best of the Edinburgh Festival on Saturday night, but our babysitter cancelled. It would have been the second time A and I had been out together since Dexie was born but we had a quiet night in.

On Sunday I had plans to catch up with another friend. I left A at home organising a dude with a bobcat and our new driveway. This process had started on Thursday, but couldn’t all be done in one day. I headed off with the children, glad I wasn’t sticking around.

My friend and I had a great time at the beach – as much as we could with two children and two dogs – each as obedient as the other. That’s where I got the sunburn.

As for the hangover, my friend was able to babysit on Sunday night, so A and I finally saw The Best of the Edinburgh Festival. I didn’t think I had *that* much to drink, but my head said otherwise!

It was a good show – not the best I’d seen, but A and I still enjoyed ourselves. We saw Stephen K Amos and Arj Barker walking around. Would have preferred to see them up on stage!
