Dear Dexter,
Happy First Birthday, my beautiful blue eyed boy.
Two years ago, I had just parked my car at work and I had a thought, a premonition about having a son. At that stage we had no plans to have more children but you were determined to be here!
You have brought such joy to our lives, you make us laugh every day. You are so adored by your father, your big sister and me.
At the moment you are very clever for almost-walking, blowing kisses, clapping and waving byebye. You are a very lively and switched on baby, you don’t like to sit still for very long. You think it is lots of fun to grab the cats and dogs and your big sister. They aren’t quite so amused though!
On the less fun side, you are a dreadful sleeper and your separation anxiety drives me bonkers!
It’s silly, but I am amazed by your red hair and how much you look like me. I wish your Nanna was here to tell me just how much you look like I did as a baby.

Oh Candi, I can’t believe it’s been a year.
He really does look like you. Have a beautiful day with your boy, and his big sister. They’re achingly beautiful, and I’ve no doubt your Mum would have just been besotted.
