Weekend breakfasts

Posted October 4th, 2008 by admin

We usually have something special for weekend breakfasts; from crumpets to pancakes, to big bacon and egg fry ups. This weekend it was going out for breakfast, but a couple of weekends ago I worked on Saturday and stopped in at the Mercato near us.

The Mercato is a massive Italian gourmet deli, but it really stocks all sorts of things, from stock pots that Willow could hide in, to frozen petit fours, to Italian talcum powder and the corresponding air freshener!

I picked up some chocolate croissants, some fantastic Italian coffee, lavash bread and a proscuitto/mozzarella roll. A and I had the proscuitto/mozzarella roll (I know it sounds odd, but it was so bad it was good!) with the lavash bread that night.

My breakfast Sunday morning was this:

A had a cup of tea and Willow had chocolate milk but you can see my cup of good strong Italian coffee, thick and sweet, just the way I like it. Hmmm, I could be describing someone/thing else there!

I hope that my children will have fond memories of our weekend breakfasts, long after they have left home.
