Gratitude One

Posted September 13th, 2008 by candi

I’ve always loved the idea of writing a gratitude journal.

Brother David Steindl-Rast :

Gratefulness is the key to a happy life that we hold in our hands, because if we are not grateful, then no matter how much we have we will not be happy — because we will always want to have something else or something more.

The idea is that writing a gratitude journal helps you learn a more positive way of thinking. It helps you to really appreciate the small pleasures in life, and to appreciate the things you do have, instead of the things you don’t.

Marcel Proust:

Let us be grateful to people who make us happy; they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.

So, the first thing I am grateful for is that I live in a first world country, Australia.  Of course, I acknowledge that there are some people in Australia who live in third world conditions.
