Interesting…
Sorry for the lack of posts – things have been pretty busy with the end of uni and work. Oh yeah, there is that whole parenting gig too.
This morning I saw my doctor for Dexie’s six month immunisations and another script for Domperidone.
Dexie coped well with his jabs, crying for a minute then getting distracted by the boob.
Domperidone is a galactagogue, it assists with the production of breast milk. I had originally got Domperidone on the 25th of May because I was feeling like Maxolon (another galactagogue) wasn’t working enough. I mentioned that I’d received some paperwork from the hospital saying that I had low potassium (hypokalemia) and a long QT wave on the ECG. She looked up Domperidone on her computer – the warnings said it may cause, in rare cases “hypokalemia, a long QT wave and sudden death”!
I’m glad I only had two of those symptoms – needless to say, she didn’t give me a repeat script for Domperidone, but gave me another script for Maxolon. The problem with Maxolon is that it crosses the blood-brain barrier, so if I take two tablets, it makes me drowsy, so the timing has to be just right.
Uni – I am so glad to have this semester over and done with. I now know my limits and 4 days of work, plus two subjects is just too much.
