Oh no, it’s gastro!
I am at home today with two sick babies. Willow fell ill on Thursday with a bad cough and high temperature, so A picked her up and took her home and stayed at home with both of them on Friday (he has plenty of leave, if I take a day off, I don’t get paid) She seemed much better over the weekend, with the antibiotics as prescribed by the doctor. Dexie only had a runny nose at this stage but was developing a nasty cough.
I dropped them both off at FDC on Monday, confident that they were both well and happy.
Then at about 11am I got the dreaded phone call that Willow had been vomiting and had diahorrea. I rang A and he picked Willow up and took her to the doctors again. Lucky they bulk bill! He did think that the antibiotics might have been causing the vomiting, but it didn’t explain the diahorrea.
So now it is Tuesday – the day I don’t work anyway and we are all in our pyjamas watching ABCKids. Dexie has just had a little vomit, but no diahorrea as yet…
Of course, this is what I get for bragging to the doctor at work that my children were remarkably healthy!
In other news, work is great. I am learning so much. We had a new manager start yesterday and I wondered what she’d be like. She saw me in the tea room with a bottle full of expressed milk in the afternoon. She congratulated me and told me that she used to be a midwife and a lactation consultant. So I don’t think she’ll have any problems with me taking a break to express!
Where I am working is about two minutes walk from where my best friend works, so we’ve been making the most of it and having lunch together twice a week. It’s so good to see her more often. She makes me laugh like no-one else. She’s just gone through a breakup so, it’s especially good to be there for her.
Dexter has four teeth all up now, two on the bottom and two in the top. He is so close to crawling, and so frustrated with it. He can sit upright without any support now and almost pushes himself back into the sitting position. This afternoon we had a shower and he sat on the bottom for the first time. Being so cold I’m not sure if I’ll do it again. It’s a bit hard to get all three of us dressed quickly enough.
