Relief!
This whole, working, studying and parenting thing is a bit of a juggle at times. Well, all the time really. Today I had to find child care for both of the kids on Friday. A had found a childcare centre but I have an ethical objection to sending the children there, not to mention issues with putting Dexter in centre based care before the age of two.
So I had to hunt around for FDC, after ringing two ladies and getting a no, I was not holding out much hope for a yes from the third and last person on the list, but she has space for both children on Friday. What a relief!
She is not too far away, in fact, she is on the way to uni, so when I go in to the library today I’ll pop in.
Speaking of uni, I took Dexter in last night. It was a bit of a disaster. I managed to catch some of the lecture, sat up the back with him exercising his vocal cords and working out his fine motor skills by trying to pick up the scraps of paper on the floor. I fed him then, which calmed him down. Then we went upstairs for the tutorial where much fuss was made of him. I eventually got him to sleep, but another class getting out woke him up. In the end he was just too grumpy and tired so we went home. Of course, he didn’t get to sleep til 10pm *sigh*
Now I have to pop next door to the neighbours with a little boy who is a couple of months younger than Dexter. He has grown out of a winter sleep suit and it certainly is the weather that their son can use it!
Edited to add: I visited the FDCarers and they seem lovely. I say they because it is a husband and wife team. They are an elderly Vietnamese couple and only have space on Friday, which is exactly the day I need.
