Ronchamp

I studied building design when I was 19.  I had always been interested in architecture – from the time that I grasped what an architect was, I knew I wanted to be one.  I used to pore over house plan books and spend hours drawing up my own house.  I loved (and still do) Lego and making buildings from it.

Life took me down a different path though and obviously I never became an architect.   I still love architecture though.

We are watching a show on architecture at the moment called The Perfect Home.  This reminded me that I meant to post about me favourite church last week when Le Corbusier was mentioned on the show.  I know it might seem odd that someone who dislikes organised religion actually has a favourite church, but this is about the architecture!

I first saw it at the University of Adelaide’s Barr Smith Library in a book that was too big to go on normal shelves, so was kept separate.  I’ve loved it ever since.
