Noticing the difference.

Posted April 29th, 2008 by candi

A and I were just talking about this, so I wanted to record it before I forget it. We have noticed that when Willow is in Family Day Care on the day that three other boys roughly the same age as her, when she comes home she is very physically expressive. On days that she [...]

This whole, working, studying and parenting thing is a bit of a juggle at times. Well, all the time really. Today I had to find child care for both of the kids on Friday. A had found a childcare centre but I have an ethical objection to sending the children there, not to mention issues [...]

The fog is lifting!

Posted April 29th, 2008 by candi

That hazy sleep deprived fog, where you can’t think is slowly but surely lifting. Reading between the lines, things are getting better. I slept from 11:30pm to 5:30am. That’s 6 hours in a row – more than I’ve had in over 6 months! I’m feeling less depressed and now that I’m working, we are more [...]

There aren’t too many other Willows out there, we’ve only met one in ‘real’ life, but I know of a few more. One is the daughter of the lovely Jodi. In the photo below, I think the two Willows even look a bit the same!

We started Dexter with solids when he was about 5.5 months old. He was a very reluctant eater though and never very keen on purees or rice cereal. I decided to go with baby lead weaning, giving him things he could feed himself rather than forcing him to eat what he did not want. To [...]

Too lazy to go to the shops!

Posted April 23rd, 2008 by candi

When I’d picked both the children up from two different places, I couldn’t be bothered either driving an extra five minutes to go to the big shops or going home and walking two minutes up to the shops for bread. I didn’t have any bread mix either, so I decided to make mini-impossible pies (with [...]

Work is good, learning lots. Happy to be more financially secure and happy to be out in the real world again. I am working in the city which is good on one hand. On the bad hand, it means public transport and being too close to too many good coffee shops. The pay is not [...]

Observations on the bus

Posted April 21st, 2008 by candi

Staid middle aged man, I did not expect you to have a gangsta rap tune for your ring tone. Blondie, we (the rest of the bus, that is) don’t need to know about the issues that you and your boyfriend are getting counselling for. It’s not a good idea to read sappy magazine stories about [...]

The weekend wrapped up.

Posted April 21st, 2008 by candi

On Friday night I picked both the children up from my friend who was looking after them while I went to work. Finally got home at 6pm, grabbed A and took off to the drive in. We saw Spiderwick Chronicles, which was surprisingly good, Forgetting Sarah Marshall which was hilarious and Superhero, which was tragically [...]

I studied building design when I was 19.  I had always been interested in architecture – from the time that I grasped what an architect was, I knew I wanted to be one.  I used to pore over house plan books and spend hours drawing up my own house.  I loved (and still do) Lego [...]
