How much are you worth?

Posted February 28th, 2008 by candi

Every now and then, some lazy journalist gets out a calculator and tries to work out how much a mother who does not work outside the home, is worth. You know, she takes the kids to school, so she’s worth X amount as a chauffeur, she cleans the house, so she’s worth X amount as a cleaner, she looks after the children, so she’s worth X amount as a nanny. Not only do I think it is Naff, but I think that being a mother is a role, not a job.

Today when I was lying down to feed Dexter, I realised just why I hate those articles so much. They insinuate that we as mothers can be replaced, albeit for a set amount of money.

I don’t know about you, but my mother can’t replaced and I’d hate to think that my children would feel any different.
