Job interview
I think I did ok. I know I could have done better, but I made the panel laugh and that is a good thing. I forgot a few basic things, but was able to make up for it. I really do have the mindset of a long term case manager, but they only do short term respite. They made a point of saying they were family friendly, but didn’t seem willing to budge on 5 days a week. I demonstrated that I know a lot about the disability sector here in SA, so I should! There is some interstate travel involved, which would be fantastic if we only had Willow. But… we are lucky enough to have our son as well.
The manager on the interview panel said that she was very impressed with my resume and even if I didn’t get the job or didn’t feel comfortable taking it at this stage, she wants to keep it and contact me when she gets some more funding.
After the interview I rang references to check that it was still ok to list them. I first spoke to my old manager, she said that it was fine, but if I want a job then all I have to do is call her. She would have to fudge it a bit now that I’m out of the system, but I know that she’d be flexible with days and hours. That was a nice boost to the old ego
It seems like a really good place to work, but I don’t know if I can leave Dexter at this age. On the other hand, I’m going a bit stir crazy at home. Although when Dexter does get a bit more independent, a bit more fun, that’s when I will need to go back to work.
I was half tempted to ring them up and tell them to withdraw my application. A says it’s self sabotage. He also says I do that a lot.
I was not comfortable with leaving Dexter for so long. dropped him off at 11am and picked him up at 2pm. He didn’t seem bothered when I got back though. He had 80ml from a bottle, once he worked out what to do with it, so I have 120ml left to freeze. Apparently he really responded to my friend’s husband, bit of a pattern there, he does seem to respond better to males than females. Apparently he cried for a bit and slept for 30mins at the most. Not much different to what he would have done with me. *le sigh*
By the time he finally fell asleep at 10pm, he’d only slept for 1 hour in total all day. I hope he sleeps well tonight.
