So. Hot.
I am really sick of this weather. It makes me tired and not interested in doing anything. At all. I had planned to make a stash of cloth pads, and had organised the material, but am yet to cut it out and actually sew it. One of the many things I need to do.
Usually A puts Willow to bed, but it’s still about 33degrees in her room, so she is lying down on her little fold out couch here in the air conditioned lounge room. I laid down next to her for a little while but there is no way that I’d be able fall asleep there, so I don’t see how she could.
Yesterday it was slightly cooler, but still too hot. We went to a friend’s house who has a pool and Dexter had his first swim. He loved it, splashing and kicking his chubby little legs around. He is such a placid baby, but it’s only now that he will tolerate being put on the floor, so I bought a new playmat for him. Willow had a second hand one, but I’ve either given it away or can’t find it anywhere.
On the 2nd of January we decided to go down to Victor Harbour, a little seaside town. It was going to be 39degrees here in Adelaide and 26degrees down there. One of A’s brother’s lives at a nearby town and owns two bakeries in the area, so we stopped in to see him and his family. It was a lot cooler down there and we’ll have to keep it in mind for future hot weekends. We walked over to Granite Island and had some chips there, but I think it was a bit ambitious to try to see family *and* do touristy things considering we left at 11am and it took us 2 hours to get down there.
On the way back we had to stop at his Mum’s for A to do something to her file server. And since we left Victor Harbour at 9pm and A finished doing whatever he was doing at midnight, we ended up spending the night there. As much as I love her, I like my own bed. Plus Dexter had run out of cloth nappies, which meant we had to buy some disposables for him and a night nappy for W. Only ones available were boys 6-11kg Huggies, but they fit them both.
Another of A’s brother’s lives at Murray Bridge and I was thinking about going out to Monarto Zoo and seeing him and his family on the way back, but we’d have to leave fairly early in the morning and stop there on the way home.
