Election Day
We exercised our democratic right to vote today. It was non-eventful, we walked in from the back, so avoided all the people handing out those wasteful how to vote pamphlets. I thought of all the people who had died fighting for the right to vote and got a bit teary.
I’m paraphrasing someone I can’t remember, but the problem with elections is that either way, a politician gets in. That pretty much sums up my attitude to politics. It’s not that I don’t care, I do. But it’s the lesser of two evils.
After we voted, we went to the local shopping plaza, also known as the fluorescent hell. I had an appointment for waxing, an appointment at the optometrist and a $40 voucher for Myer. The waxing hurt, my vision is fantastic and we bought a Bonds sleep suit for Dexter, a Miffy t-shirt, a Paul Frank t-shirt and a pair of Milkshake shorts. Total cost of $13.00, combined with the 30% sale they were having. I think we hit the jackpot there!
